Melissa McCartney



Melissa M McCartney is a native South Floridian. After graduating from William T Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, she attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where she studied History and Secondary Education, graduating from the Supper Honors Program.  She then attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she participated in the Cardozo Legal Society and Moot Court.

She started her career at one of the largest Insurance Defense law firms in Florida, where she handled cases involving construction defect, automobile accidents, premises liability as well as personal injury protection and homeowners association disputes.

She then spent a few years working at a Plaintiffs personal injury firm where she created and developed their first party personal injury protection benefits practice, working with local medical providers to recover Florida No Fault benefits on behalf of their patients.

After a few years working on Plaintiffs cases she returned to defense, joining the Palm Beach County School Board Office of General Counsel, where she defended the School District in lawsuits involving premises liability and school bus accidents.  She also worked on numerous school district policies, working through the Covid Pandemic, assisting the District and individual schools navigate the new normal.

Along with her husband and five children, they are members of Family Church, where they serve in the Children’s ministry at the Gardens Campus.  They enjoy spending time as a family at the beach, the North Carolina Mountains and theme parks.
